Candra (pronounced has “Chandra”) Vowels and Candra Vowel Signs
Candra vowels are independent entities whereas the Candra vowel signs are dependent on consonants (following the same rules as the other vowels). Hence, you can type the Candra vowels by themselves whereas Candra vowel signs come after some consonant and are joined with that consonant.
| Candra Vowel | ઍ | ઑ | ૐ |
| Candra Vowel Sign | ૅ | ૉ | ઁ |
Note: Microsoft Word does not let you type vowel signs (including Candra vowel signs by themselves). You must type a consonant prior to using vowels and Candra vowels. Text editors will let you type these vowel signs and newer ones may or may not show the dotted circle.
All of the Candra vowels are independent. Hence you cannot combing a Candra vowel with a Candra vowel sign. For example, 'ઑ' is an independent entity, so you cannot type 'અ' and then 'ૉ' to get 'ઑ'. You just type 'ઑ' by itself.
