Gadhada III-35: Forcefully Altering One’s Innate Nature; God Is Maligned When His Bhakta Is Maligned

Nirupan

February 11, 1974. Swamishri explained Vachanamrut Gadhada III-35:

“One becomes happy if they remain straight-forward with God and the Sant and do as they say. A snake zigzags everywhere except in its burrow. If he tries to twist and turn, its skin will be scarred and ants will swarm to bite it. Similarly, if we walk waywardly elsewhere, that is fine; but we have to walk straight in front of one who grants liberation. One should complete their task in a straight-forward manner and please them by doing their assigned sevā. How can one become straight-forward in front of thousands of sadhus? If one behaves in front of one Satpurush, then one can in front of others. If one makes it a habit, then one can behave as such everywhere. If one is straight-forward, then one derives happiness in their devotion. If God or the Sant say, ‘Drop this and do this instead,’ then one would do that - if one has a self-interest in their moksha. One who behave this way will not be unhappy.”

[Brahmaswarup Pramukh Swami Maharaj: Part2/323]

Prasang

It was mentioned that Yogiji Maharaj drank the water of Lici River in 1955. Hearing this, Pramukh Swami Maharaj said, “Then we should go to Lici River as it has become a place of pilgrimage.”

One yuvak said, “Bapa, make Hindustan just as as green and fertile as is here.”

Welcoming the yuvak’s proposition, Swamishri started doing dhun and made some wishes.

After dhun, Bhaskarbhai Ambali offered some mukhvās to Swamishri. However, Swamishri had never eaten sweets or mukhvās without distributing to others first. Therefore, he distributed it to others first and then ate.

Bhagwan Swaminarayan says in Gadhada III-35: “Fourthly, when he comes across any precious item such as an expensive piece of clothing, some delicious food, clean water, etc., he thinks, ‘It would be nice to give this to a devotee of God.’ He would give away the items to him and be happy.” Swamishri exhibited this quality in his life.

[Brahmaswarup Pramukh Swami Maharaj: Part 2/364]
