Gadhada I-68: God Forever Resides in the Eight Types of Murtis and in the Sant

The next day, Vachanāmrut Gadhadā I-68 was ready. Shriji Mahārāj delivered this discourse on Chaitra sud 9 (his birthday). Swāmishri said, “The day was nom (ninth day of the bright half) - a day of fasting.”

Vajubhāi Sheth asked, “Did God (Shriji Mahārāj) also fast?”

“God fasts - that is why he is called God!” Swāmishri replied with a raised voice.

The following was narrated from the Vachanamrut: Mahārāj entered the murti of Thākorji in Jagannāthpuri and observed the pujāri’s devotion and deceit. At this point, Swāmishri looked at Shāstriji Mahārāj’s and said, “Swāmi is watching.” Then he laughed and said, “Yes, I am watching.” (Implying he and Shāstriji Mahārāj are one.) The whole assembly started laughing.

Then, someone asked, “What does pravesh mean?” (Referring to Mahārāj entering the murti.) Coincidentally, the microphone stopped working when the question was asked. Tapping the microphone, Swāmishri said, “It broke.” The microphone started working again, so Swāmishri said, “Look. That is called pravesh.” Hearing this, the whole assembly erupted in divine laughter.

ઉપદેશનું તાદૃશ્ય

બીજે દિવસે પ્રથમનું ૬૮મું વચનામૃત વંચાવ્યું. જેમાં ચૈત્ર સુદ નોમના દિવસે જ મહારાજે વાત કરી છે. સ્વામીશ્રી કહે, “નોમનો - ઉપવાસનો દિવસ.”

ત્યારે વજુભાઈ શેઠ કહે, “ભગવાન પણ ઉપવાસ કરતા?”

“ભગવાન ઉપવાસ કરે ત્યારે જ ભગવાન કહેવાય ને!” સ્વામીશ્રીએ લહેકાથી જણાવ્યું.

વચનામૃતમાં વાત આવી કે મહારાજ જગન્નાથપુરીમાં ઠાકોરજીની મૂર્તિમાં પ્રવેશ કરીને પૂજારીનો ભક્તિભાવ, છળકપટ દેખતા. તે વખતે સ્વામીશ્રી શાસ્ત્રીજી મહારાજની મૂર્તિ સામે જોઈને બોલ્યા, “સ્વામી! જુઓ છો ને!” પછી હસતાં હસતાં પોતે કહેવા લાગ્યા, “હા, જોઉં છું.” એટલે આખી સભા હસી પડી.

પછી “પ્રવેશ એટલે શું?” એ પ્રશ્ન પૂછ્યો. એ જ વખતે માઇક બંધ પડી ગયું. સ્વામીશ્રીએ તેને ટકોરા મારીને કહ્યું, “ખોટું પડી ગયું છે.” ત્યાં માઇક ચાલુ થયું. એટલે બોલ્યા, “જો આ પ્રવેશ થયો.” આ સાંભળતાં જ સભામાં હાસ્યરસ ફરી વળ્યો.

Mahima

27 July 1957, Mumbai. During the discourses, Yogiji Mahārāj said, “All the 262 Vachanāmruts are excellent, but this Vachanāmrut is one that can be perfected; if the principle of this Vachanāmrut is affixed in one’s heart, then one will never develop nāstik feelings and one’s strong conviction in God will become firm.”

તા. ૨૭/૭/૧૯૫૭, મુંબઈ. કથાપ્રસંગમાં યોગીજી મહારાજ કહે, “વચનામૃતમાં ૨૬૨, બધાંય ઉત્તમ છે, પણ આ એક વચનામૃત સિદ્ધ થઈ જાય એવું આ વચનામૃત (છે), તેનો સિદ્ધાંત અંતરમાં ઉતારી દીધો હોય, તો નાસ્તિકભાવ આવે નહીં અને પરિપક્વ નિશ્ચય દૃઢ થાય.”

Nirupan

May 30, 1965, Bochāsan. After pujā, Yogiji Mahārāj instructed Harshadbhāi [Dave] to read Vachanāmrut Gadhadā I-68 and said, “God resides in the Sant - there is no question in that. Shriji Mahārāj has himself said that the devotion of one who considers a murti to be merely a painting and the Sant to be an ordinary human being is like that of a hypocrite... Why can we not develop the same feelings we have towards the Sant for the murti? Mahārāj has instructed us [that God resides in the murti], so we must develop these feelings. If the owner tells us to worship a pestle, then we should do it (i.e. Even if something goes against our logic, since it is God’s command, we should abide by it.) We should develop the feeling [that God is present in the murti]. When the government makes a declaration, we all accept it instantly. Similarly, this is Shriji Mahārāj’s declaration, so we should accept it.”

તા. ૩૦/૫/૧૯૬૫, બોચાસણ. પૂજા વિધિ બાદ યોગીજી મહારાજે હર્ષદભાઈ પાસે વચનામૃત ગઢડા પ્રથમ ૬૮ કઢાવ્યું અને કહ્યું, “સાક્ષાત્ ભગવાન સંતમાં નિવાસ કરીને રહે છે. આમાં પ્રશ્ન નથી. મહારાજ પોતે વાત કરે છે કે સંતને બીજા માણસ જેવા માને ને મૂર્તિને ચિત્રામણ જાણે તે પાખંડ ભક્તિ... જેવો ભાવ સંતમાં છે, તેવો મૂર્તિમાં કેમ આવતો નથી? મહારાજે આજ્ઞા કરી એટલે એવો ભાવ લાવવો. ધણીએ કહ્યું કે ‘સાંબેલું પૂજો!’ તો એમ કરવાનું. તો ભગવાનનો ભાવ લાવવો પડે! સરકારે કબૂલાત કરી તો આપણે કેવું માનીએ! તેમ શ્રીજીમહારાજે કબૂલાત કરી તે આપણે માનવું જ.”
