Panchala-7: The ‘Māyā’ of a Magician

After having Vachanāmrut Panchālā-7 read, Swami said, “By understanding this manifest God (Bhagwan Swāminārāyan) to be free from all blemishes, there is nothing else left to do. And if God gives powers, one would not be able to control those powers - they would go mad like Shekhji.† Therefore, God has kept some deficiencies in us. By understanding God as fault-free, one also becomes fault-free. The flaws that are experienced are of the material elements and only God is truly fault-free. Also, place and time do not affect God, but they do affect the jiva. Since the body is formed from the prārabdha karmas, when impure prārabdha karmas bear fruit, then place and time have an impact. But by knowing the manifest form of God as fault-free, then one is also in the process of becoming fault-free.
†One Muslim Shekhji was a satsangi of Shriji Mahārāj. He expressed his desire to spread satsang in the Sindh region to Shriji Mahārāj, so Mahārāj gave him powers, “Whoever meditates on your beard will experience samādhi. However, keep five restrictions in mind: 1) Never speak to women. 2) Never wear fine clothes. 3) Never eat sweet and oily foods. 4) Never stay anywhere except Sindh. And 5) Never enter anyone’s mind and read their thoughts or spread their thoughts. However, after receiving powers, he lost control and trangressed all of these five rules. Then he started saying he is God, so Mahārāj took back his powers.
પંચાળાનું સાતમું વચનામૃત વંચાવીને ગુણાતીતાનંદ સ્વામીએ વાત કરી, “આ પ્રગટ ભગવાનને નિર્દોષ સમજ્યેથી કાંઈ કરવું બાકી રહેતું નથી. ને ચમત્કાર જણાય તો શેખજીની પેઠે જીરવાય નહીં,† ગાંડું થઈ જવાય. માટે કસર જેવું રાખ્યું છે. ભગવાનને નિર્દોષ સમજ્યાથી નિર્દોષ થઈ રહ્યો છે ને દોષ જણાય છે તે તત્ત્વના દોષ છે ને નિર્દોષ તો એક ભગવાન જ છે. ને દેશકાળ તો ભગવાનને ના લાગે, જીવને તો લાગે; કારણ કે પ્રારબ્ધ કર્મે દેહ છે તે ખોટા પ્રારબ્ધનો થર આવે ત્યારે દેશકાળ લાગે પણ ઉપાસ્ય મૂર્તિને નિર્દોષ સમજ્યાથી, એ દોષે રહિત થઈ રહ્યો છે.”
†સિંધી મુસ્લિમ ભક્ત શેખજી શ્રીજીમહારાજના સત્સંગી હતા. એક વાર પોતાના સિંધમાં સત્સંગ કરાવવા માટે તેમણે ઇચ્છા કરી તેથી શ્રીજીમહારાજે તેમને મોકલ્યા અને ઐશ્વર્ય આપતાં કહ્યું, “તમારી દાઢીનું જે ધ્યાન કરશે તેને સમાધિ થશે. પરંતુ તમારે આ પાંચ વાતનો સંપૂર્ણ ખ્યાલ રાખવો: ૧. સ્ત્રીઓને વાત કરશો નહીં. ૨. જરિયાન વસ્ત્રો ધારણ કરશો નહીં. ૩. ગળ્યું-ચીકણું જમશો નહીં. ૪. સિંધ સિવાય બીજે ક્યાંય રોકાશો નહીં. ૫. કોઈના અંતરમાં પ્રવેશ કરશો નહીં, ને કરો તો તેની ગુપ્ત વાત કોઈની પાસે પ્રકાશ કરશો નહી.” પરંતુ ઐશ્વર્ય મળ્યા પછી છકી ગયેલા શેખજીએ આ નિયમોનો ભંગ કર્યો. પછી “હું ભગવાન છું” એમ પ્રચાર કરવા લાગ્યા. મહારાજે તેમનું ઐશ્વર્ય પાછું ખેંચી લીધું.
