Hanumānji Possessed Immense Strength

Hanumānji was very brave and mischievous during his childhood. He troubled the rishis in their āshrams. The rishis cursed him: “When someone reminds you of your strength, only then will you realize your strength. Until then you will not know your full strength and behave ordinarily.”

When Angad’s army arrived at the southern Indian ocean while searching for Sitā, Jatāyu’s brother Sanpāti informed them that Sitāji is in Lanka. Lanka was 100 jojan (1300 km) away. How can one reach there? When this question arose, Jāmbuvān informed Hanumānji of his strength and his daring feats in his childhood. As according to the rishis’ curse, Hanumānji realized his great strength and leaped across the ocean to find Sitā.

હનુમાનજીમાં અપાર બળ હતું

હનુમાનજી બાળપણમાં ચંચળતા અને શૂરવીરતાને લીધે ઋષિઓના આશ્રમમાં ભાંગફોડ કરતા. આથી ઋષિઓએ શાપ આપ્યો, “જ્યારે તને કોઈ તારા બળની વાત કરશે ત્યારે જ તેનું તને જ્ઞાન થશે. તે વિના સામાન્ય વીરની જેમ જ રહીશ.”

જ્યારે સીતાની શોધ કરતા અંગદની ટુકડી દક્ષિણના સાગર પાસે પહોંચી, ત્યારે જટાયુના ભાઈ સંપાતિએ સીતા લંકામાં છે એવી ખબર આપી. લંકા દરિયામાં સો જોજન દૂર હતી. આથી ત્યાં કોણ પહોંચે? એ પ્રશ્ન ઉપસ્થિત થયો. ત્યારે જાંબુવાને હનુમાનને તેમનાં બળ અને પરાક્રમની યાદ અપાવી. તેથી હનુમાનજીને ફરીથી ઋષિના શાપ અનુસાર પોતાના બળનું જ્ઞાન થયું અને સાગર પાર કરી સીતાજીની શોધ કરી.

Baldevji possessed tremendous strength but was unaware

Once, Krishna and Balrām were playing with the Gop youths. Pralambāsur, disguised as a cowherd, arrived and showed them a game where they paired with each other and jumped like deer in a race. They had to reach a certain line to win the race. The bālak in the pair that won would be carried back to the starting point by the loser on his back. Shridāmā paired with Krishna and Pralambāsur paired with Balrām. Krishna and Balrām won, therefore, Shridāmā and Pralambāsur carried Krishna and Balrām, respectively, to the tree. However, Pralambāsur did not stop at the tree and continued carrying Balrām further. But Pralambāsur could not bear Balrām’s weight much further, so he assumed his demonic form. Balrām yelled to Krishna for help. Krishna reminded Balrām of his strength, “You are I are the cause of the world. We have been born to relieve the earth of its burden. In your original majestic form, you pervade everything. Contemplate on your original form and slay this demon.” Balrām realized his strength and slayed Pralambāsur.

બળદેવજીને બળ તો અપાર હતું પણ પોતે જાણતા ન હતા

એક વાર કૃષ્ણ અને બલરામ ગોપ બાળકો સાથે બે બેની જોડમાં હરણિયાંની જેમ કૂદકા મારી દોડવાની રમત રમતા હતા. તેમાં જે અમુક હદ વટાવી જીતી જાય તે પોતાની જોડના બાળકને પોતાની પીઠ પર બેસાડી એક વડ સુધી લઈ જાય એવી શરત હતી. તેમાં શ્રીદામા ગોવાળ સાથે કૃષ્ણ અને મનુષ્યરૂપ ધારીને ગોવાળ બનેલા પ્રલંબાસુર સાથે બલરામ હતા. તેમાં કૃષ્ણ અને બલરામ જીતી જાય છે. આથી તેઓની જોડના ગોવાળો કૃષ્ણ અને બલરામને ઊંચકી વડ સુધી લઈ જતા હતા ત્યારે વડ સુધી આવી જવા છતાં બલરામને પ્રલંબાસુરે છોડ્યા નહીં અને આગળ ચાલવા લાગ્યો. પછી બલરામનું વજન સહન ન થવાથી તેણે અસુર રૂપ ધારી લીધું. ત્યારે બલરામે કૃષ્ણને બચાવવા કહ્યું. એ વખતે કૃષ્ણે બલરામને કહ્યું, “તમે અને હું બંને જગતનું કારણ છીએ અને પૃથ્વીનો ભાર ઉતારવા આવ્યા છીએ. તમારા વિરાટ સ્વરૂપે તમે બધે જ રહ્યા છો. એવા તમારા સ્વરૂપનું સ્મરણ કરો અને આ દાનવનો નાશ કરો.” એ કૃષ્ણ ભગવાને જણાવ્યું ત્યારે બલરામે પોતાનું બળ જાણીને પ્રલંબાસુરનો નાશ કર્યો.
