Gadhada I-62: Acquiring the Virtues of Satya, Shauch, Etc.
Summary
- One who develops rapport with God by having the perfect conviction of God:
- Acquires the redemptive virtues of God.
- Becomes extremely capable and unattached just like God.
- That perfect conviction should be like this:
- He realises that God is not like kāl, karma, swabhāv, māyā, or Purush [an aksharmukta involved in creation of countless brahmānds].
- He realises God to be distinct from everything, their controller and cause; yet, despite being their cause, He is beyond their influence.
- Even if he hears misleading scriptures or talks of misleading philosophers, or if his own antahkaran raises doubts within himself, his conviction of God never wavers.
- A demonic jiva:
- Will still not forsake his own swabhāvs even if he comes into contact with God.
- Suffers severely because he spites devotees of God.
- The dharma of humble devotees of God:
- He does not retain the slightest arrogance due to remaining fearful of God.
- He does not pain even the smallest of being, such as an ant.
- He behaves meekly.
