Gadhada I-48: The Four Types of Kusangis

Summary

1. Four types of kusang:

1. Kudā-panthis: they will cause one to falter in their religious vows and make one impure.
2. Shakti-panthis: they will cause one to deflect from observance of swadharma.
3. Shushka-Vedānti: they will cause one to fall from bhakti and upāsanā.
4. Nāstiks: they deny the existence of God, thereby leading one astray from the path prescribed by sacred scriptures.

2. One should daily pray to God:

1. May I never encounter the four types of kusangis and protect me from the inner enemies of lust, anger, etc.
2. Bestow upon me the company of your devotees.
