- The karmas a jiva has performed become assimilated in māyā; therefore one cannot be liberated by their pious karmas alone.
- A Sant who has attained God:
- One should profoundly attach to such a Sant and believe he is one’s own self.
- By attaining that Sant or attaining God and seeking refuge in them, one transcends māyā.
- He has the power to transcend māyā.
- No matter how great one becomes, one with a rational understanding believes: “My greatness is not due to this status, but rather due to the ātmā and the association with the Sant.”
- The greatness of a Sant is due to bhakti, upāsanā, and ātmā-realisation.
