Amdavad-8: Causes of Anger and Solutions to Overcome It
Summary
- Anger destroys virtues such as chanting God’s name, austerities, gnān, etc.; therefore, sādhus should conquer anger.
- Causes of anger: during question-answer session, argumentative discussion, giving or taking some objects, reprimanding someone, maintaining partiality toward one’s attendant, when insulted, by jealousy, possessiveness for one’s accommodation, when unequally distributing prasād, etc.
- When one becomes angry or develops angry thoughts toward anyone, then considering the person to be a devotee of God and discarding one’s ego, one should bow down to them and pray.
- By atoning this way, God becomes pleased, one’s antahkaran becomes pure, and all vicious natures are eradicated.
