Gadhada III-5: Bhakti Coupled with the Knowledge of God’s Greatness
Summary

- Arises in one’s heart by serving and profoundly associating with eminent sādhus [Motāpurush].
- With this type of bhakti, one does not encounter any obstacles in any form.
- If one does not have this type of bhakti, then one will encounter obstacles in his bhakti.
- Sakām devotee: superficially appears to be a renunciant and free of other desires, yet he has desires other than a desire for the manifest form of God; hence, he attains less bliss [i.e. bliss of higher realms of deities but not God’s abode].
- Nishkām devotee: He may possess a lesser extend of renunciation and may become disturbed by desires; yet he does not desire for anything other than the manifest form of God; hence, he attains higher bliss in God’s abode.
