Gadhada I-21: One Possessing Ekāntik Dharma; The Two Forms of Akshar

Summary

  1. One who possesses dharma, gnān, vairāgya, and bhakti coupled with the understanding of God’s greatness is known as an ekāntik bhakta; and God is please through these four virtues.
  2. One should contemplate on the form of God while performing all activities.
  3. When there is some internal disturbance while contemplating on God’s form:
  1. One should realise his own self to be distinct from the body, indriyas, and the antahkaran.
  2. Just as one does not believe the bodies of those 8.4 million life forms to be one’s true body, similarly, one should not believe this present body to be one’s true self, nor should one believe the relations of this body to be one’s true relations.
  1. In order to increasingly understand the profound greatness of God day by day, one should also constantly keep the company of a sādhu.
  2. After such an ekāntik bhakta leaves his body, he acquires the qualities similar to those of Akshar, and attains Akshardhām remaining in the service of God.
  3. Akshar has two forms: first is Chidākāsh and second is the form that remains in the service of God in his abode.
  4. All satsangis should develop the following singular conviction:
  1. We want to become an aksharmukta and remain in the service of God in Akshardhām
  2. We do not want and be tempted by the temporary and vain worldly pleasures.
  3. We want to offer ekāntik bhakti to God.
  4. We want to eradicate our desires in this very life by thoroughly understanding the profound greatness of God.
