Gadhada II-60: Overcoming Difficulties; Being Loyal
Summary
- The solutions to remaining happy amidst the difficulties encountered in life:
- Awareness of the ātmā.
- Awareness of the perishable nature of all worldly objects.
- Awareness of God’s greatness.
- Just as one is loyal to one’s relatives, one should be loyal to the devotees of God.
- A genuine devotee of God:
- Becomes miserable seeing the misery of another devotee of God.
- Never develops a grudge if a difficulty arises with another devotee of God.
- Maintains loyalty to God and His devotees.
- One who does not feel misery seeing another devotee’s misery:
- Is a non-believer.
- Develops a grudge with a devotee of God, with feelings of enmity.
- Is never liberation, despite pursuing countless spiritual endeavours.
- Believes that all sādhus are equal.
- Does not show loyalty to a devotee of God when he hears someone speak ill of that devotee.
- If one looks angrily at a devotee of God or hurts him, Shriji Mahārāj develop an aversion for that person, but He does not feel any compassion.
