Gadhada II-26: Suppressing Ātmā-realization and Other Virtues if They Obstruct Bhakti
Summary
- A devotee of God should never do anything that displeases God and His Bhakta.
- Anything that hinders him in worshipping God:
- One should forsake his own relatives or any swabhāvs just as one forsakes one’s enemy.
- He should suppress even gnān of the ātmā, vairāgya or dharma.
- One who perceives flaws in others and virtues in himself:
- He may be known as a satsangi, but he should be known to be half-fallen.
- No matter how great he may be, he will certainly encounter hindrances on the path of liberation.
- One who perceives virtues in all satsangis and flaws in himself, his satsang becomes strong.
- When Shriji Mahārāj gives advice to someone, if they accept it positively, He develops affection for them.
