Gadhada II-17: The Elements in the Form of God; ‘Sthitapragna’
Summary
- Despite that God may accept the 24 elements of māyā, He remains unchanged and uninfluenced by them.
- One whose faith in God’s form is firm:
- He does not understand God has any part of māyā [i.e. he does not believe this much of God has māyā and this much does not – He is totally free of māyā.]
- He never perceives flaws in God.
- He thoroughly understands the greatness of God.
- He has an unflinching refuge of God.
- He understands God is not subject to change [nirvikāri – uninfluenced by vicious natures] and is absolutely uninfluenced by māyā [nirlep].
- He glorifies God’s weaknesses in exactly the same way that he glorifies His strengths. He also glorifies those actions and incidents of God that appear to be inappropriate in exactly the same way that he glorifies actions and incidents that are appropriate.
- Such a devotee should be known as being ‘sthitapragna’ - entertaining no doubts at all regarding the nature of God [as described in 2f].
- He has nothing left to understand.
