Kariyani-6: One Who Possesses Matsar
Summary
- God is pleased with a devotee who becomes free of lust, anger, avarice, deceit, egotism, jealousy and matsar and then offers bhakti to God.
- Matsar:
- Is the root of all vices.
- Is subtler than all of the other vices.
- Characteristic: if someone else gives and someone else receives, a person who possesses matsar burns with envy unnecessarily.
- Causes of matsar: women, wealth, sumptuous food, and ego.
- A sādhu without matsar is worthy of possessing bhāgwat dharma.
- Shriji Mahārāj speaks about His own nature for the sake of revealing the ideals of a devotee:
- He does not have even the slightest bit of lust, anger, avarice, egotism, matsar or jealousy in His heart.
- He experiences a strong aversion for the panchvishays.
- He accepts food or clothes on seeing the bhakti of devotees, but not for His own physical pleasure.
- He is unaffected by anything, just like ākāsh – those who constantly stay near Him knows this.
- He has sacrificed His body for the sake of the devotees of God.
- Characteristics of perfect devotees of God:
- Possess resolute love only for God.
- Become dejected by enticing vishays.
- Indulge in ordinary vishays only to sustain their body.
