Gadhada III-19: Two Undesirable Traits of a Renunciant

Dhāri Has Been Burnt

Pramukh Swami and other swamis arrived in Dhāri from Khāmbhā. On the previous day, Purushottambhai, Jivanbhai, and other devotees from Dhāri had pressed Yogiji Maharaj to grace the villages surrounding Dhāri. They argued, “What is our fault that you will not come to nearby villages?” However, Swami did not consent.

On the way back from Khāmbā, the road near Chalādā forks to Dhāri. Here, the merchants of Mumbai, Jivanbhāi Bhākhadā, Purushottambhāi and others were waiting to request Swāmishri to grace Dhāri. They were determine to take Swāmishri to Dhāri in any way possible. However, Swāmishri did not budge.

At this point, Satyapriya Swāmi punned, “Bapa, have to amāre ek Dhāri (ekdhāri) vrutti chhe.” Meaning, we only have one resolve - to take you to Dhāri.

However, Swāmishri became saddened so no one could press further. Pramukh Swami, Mahant Swami and other swamis went to Dhāri instead.

In Amreli, after offering thāl to Thākorji, Swāmishri read Gadhadā III-19 and left everyone speechless. He said, “For one who has renounced, he cannot hear talks of his native place. He cannot even hear its name. All of that has been burnt.” Swāmishri talked extraordinarily on this Vachanāmrut and explained the ideals for sadhus promoted by Shriji Maharaj. Not only did Swāmishri exhibit these ideals in his vartan, he also gave the other sadhus strength in living these ideals.

ધારી બળી ગયું

ખાંભાથી પ્રમુખસ્વામી અને સંતો ધારી પધાર્યા. આગલે દિવસે ધારી ગામના પુરુષોત્તમભાઈ, જીવણભાઈ તથા બીજા પ્રતિષ્ઠિત હરિભક્તોએ સ્વામીશ્રીને ધારી પાસે બાજુના પરામાં પધારવા ખૂબ જ આગ્રહ કર્યો હતો. “અમારો શું ગુનો?” તેમણે ઘણી વિનંતી કરી, પણ સ્વામીશ્રીએ જરાપણ નમતું આપ્યું નહિ.

ખાંભાથી પાછા ફરતાં ચલાળા પાસેથી ધારીનો રસ્તો વળે છે, ત્યાં મુંબઈના શેઠિયાઓ જીવણભાઈ બાખડા તથા પુરુષોત્તમભાઈ આદિ ધારીના સર્વે હરિભક્તો તથા પ્રતિષ્ઠિત આગેવાનો, સર્વે સ્વામીશ્રીને ધારી લઈ જવા પ્રાર્થના કરવા માટે ઊભા હતા. સ્વામીશ્રીને ગમે તેમ કરીને ધારી લઈ જવા માટે સૌ કૃતનિશ્ચયી હતા; પરંતુ સ્વામીશ્રીએ મચક ન આપી.

સત્યપ્રિય સ્વામીએ આ વખતે શ્લેષ કરતાં કહ્યું, “બાપા! હવે તો અમારે એક ધારી (એકધારી) વૃત્તિ છે.”

પરંતુ સ્વામીશ્રીને ઉદાસ જોતાં કોઈનો આગ્રહ ચાલ્યો નહીં. પ્રમુખસ્વામી, મહંત સ્વામી આદિ સંતો ધારી દર્શને જઈ આવ્યા.

અમરેલીમાં ઠાકોરજી જમાડ્યા પછી સ્વામીશ્રીએ ગ. અં. ૧૯મું વચનામૃત વંચાવીને સૌને અવાક્ કરી દીધા અને “ત્યાગીએ પોતાના વતનના ગામની વાત સંભળાય પણ નહીં, ગામનું નામ પણ સંભળાય નહીં, એ બધું બળી ગયું!” એ પ્રમાણે અદ્‌ભુત નિરૂપણ કરી, સંતો માટે શ્રીજીમહારાજે ઉપદેશેલ આદર્શને પ્રત્યક્ષ કરી દીધો અને બધા સંતોને આ પ્રમાણે વર્તવા ખૂબ જ બળ આપ્યું.
