Gadhada I-54: Upholding Bhāgwat Dharma; The Gateway to Liberation

Nirupan

Gunātitānand Swāmi said, “After purifying one’s inner faculties, one should think that whatever important talks take place are due to this Sādhu. The fact that this Satsang, God and his Sādhu have been recognized in itself is described as the gateway to moksha.” After reciting the shlok: Prasangam-ajaram pāsham..., Swāmi said, “Without a door, banging one’s head into the wall will not allow one to enter. So, attach the jiva with such a Sādhu...”

[Swāmini Vāto: 6/85]

†Kapildev Bhagwan says to his mother, Devhuti, “If a person maintains profound attachment towards the God-realized Sadhu just as resolutely as he maintains profound attachment towards his own relatives, then the gateway to liberation opens for him.” - Shrimad Bhagvat: 3/25/20

September 1896 [Samvat 1952], Gadhadā. Bhagatji looked at one of the sādhus seated in the assembly. The sādhu then recited some Vachanāmruts by heart - Gadhadā I-54, Gadhadā II-54 and Gadhadā III-21. Having heard this, Bhagatji turned to Purushottamdās of Vaso and said, “This talk was about the ultimate goal.” He then added, “Ātmabuddhi towards the Ekāntik Sant of God is the unique endeavor for moksha. Shriji Mahārāj has given the key to moksha to such a Sant; therefore, that Sant is known as the gateway to moksha. Serve such a Sant by thought, word and deed, and perfect ekāntik dharma, but never fall into the habit of criticizing people. Previously, those who have developed an aversion towards the devotees of God have fallen from even the most exalted status.”

[Brahmawarup Shri Pragji Bhakta: 552]

Pramukh Swami Maharaj says, “We have attained the Gunātit gnān so we have drawn the longer straw. The Gunātit Sant gave us this knowledge. The Sant is like a mother - he purifies the jiva, cleanses the filth of the mind, and then God accepts that jiva. If one acquires true association of a Sant and develops genuine affection for him, then he progresses. One should recognize the true Sant. One should not stick their head in any wall (i.e. associate with any ordinary sadhu). Mahārāj identified the Sant in Gadhadā I-54 as the gateway to liberation. One should identify that Sant as one’s ātmā and love him; then one attains the path to Akshardhām. Our worldly tasks may be fulfilled or they may not be, but our ignorance will be removed and we will attain Akshardhām and the highest form of bliss. We should desire for that (bliss). The Satsang increases through the world due to the wish of the Motā-Purush. The mandirs will encrusted with gold, but (what benefit will that be to us if) the ignorance of our heart will not be removed, nor will we progress from within - hence we will not find happiness.”

[Sanjivani: 1/97]
