Vartal-10: How the Jiva Attains Liberation

March 1966, Mumbai. During the daily discourse, Vachanāmrut Vartāl 10 was being read. Yogiji Mahārāj mentioned, “None of the sādhus that met Shriji Mahārāj are seen today. Where are the ‘nand’ sadhus (paramhansas) today? Whose refuge should we keep right now?

“One who has attained qualities similar to God’s is known to have truly met him - i.e. he knows God’s wishes and has a oneness with him. He propagates God’s wishes. Seek refuge in him. Act according to his commands. What does refuge mean? ‘I am yours’.

“What should we do if we do not find the one that has ‘met’ God? Should we sit at home? Such a Sant is always present. If you do not meet him face to face, then behold the murti and worship it. Instant liberation is granted through darshan of the Ekāntik Sant.”

માર્ચ, ૧૯૬૬, મુંબઈ. કથામાં વચનામૃત વરતાલ ૧૦નું નિરૂપણ ચાલુ હતું. પછી સ્વામીશ્રીએ વાત કરી, “શ્રીજીમહારાજના મળેલા કોઈ સાધુ અત્યારે દેખાતા નથી. નંદ ક્યાં છે? પણ તો અત્યારે કોનો આશ્રય કરવો? એમના સાધર્મ્યને પામેલા હોય એ મળેલા. અભિપ્રાયને જાણનારા, એકાત્મભાવને પામેલા. અભિપ્રાય એ પ્રવર્તાવે. એમનો આશ્રય કરવો. તેની આજ્ઞામાં રહેવું. આશ્રય એટલે શું? ‘હું તમારો.’

“મળેલા કદાપિ ન મળે તો શું કરવું? ઘેર બેસી રહેવું? એવા સંત વિચરતા તો હોય. તેમનો સાંધો ન પડે તો પ્રતિમા ધારવી, પૂજવી. એકાંતિક સંતનાં દર્શનથી તરત કલ્યાણ થઈ જાય છે.”

Vachanāmrut Vartāl 10 was read. It mentions: “When God is not manifest on this earth, one should seek the refuge of the Sadhu who has met God (i.e. who has the realization of God) - because the jiva can also attain liberation through him.”

The meaning of ‘the Sādhu that has met God’ was explained by Yogiji Mahārāj in the following way, “In Gadhadā III-27, Shriji Mahārāj has said that: ‘The attributes of the Sant – being free of lust, avarice, egotism, taste, attachment, etc. - are also described in the scriptures. The Sant who possesses these attributes has a direct relationship with God. Therefore, one should develop the conviction of God based on his words. In fact, to have firm faith in the words of the Sant is itself the conviction of God.’

“Here, ‘direct relationship’ refers to the Sant that has ‘met’ God - meaning the Param Ekāntik, Gunātit Sant.”

વડતાલનું ૧૦મું વચનામૃત વંચાવ્યું તેમાં આવ્યું: “ભગવાન જ્યારે પૃથ્વીને વિષે પ્રત્યક્ષ ન હોય ત્યારે તે ભગવાનને મળેલા જે સાધુ તેનો આશ્રય કરવો, તો તે થકી જીવનું કલ્યાણ થાય છે.” આમાં ‘મળેલા સાધુ’નો અર્થ કરતાં યોગીજી મહારાજે કહ્યું, “મહારાજે ગઢડા અંત્ય ૨૭મા વચનામૃતમાં કહ્યું છે: ‘શાસ્ત્રે કહ્યાં જે નિષ્કામ, નિર્લોભ, નિર્માન, નિઃસ્વાદ, નિઃસ્નેહ ઇત્યાદિક સંતનાં લક્ષણ તેને સાંભળીને એવાં લક્ષણ જ્યાં દેખાય એવા જે સંત તેને ને ભગવાનને સાક્ષાત્ સંબંધ હોય; માટે એવા સંતનાં વચને કરીને ભગવાનનો નિશ્ચય કરવો ને તેના વચનમાં દૃઢ વિશ્વાસ કરવો તેને નિશ્ચય કહીએ.’ અહીં ‘સાક્ષાત્ સંબંધ’ એટલે ‘ભગવાનને મળેલા’ સંત. અર્થાત્ પરમ એકાંતિક, ગુણાતીત સંત.”
