Gadhada II-7: A Poor Man

Nirupan

April 1, 1970, Mwanza, Tanzania. During Swāmishri’s stay at the bungalow of Rāmubhāi, Yogiji Mahārāj had Vachanāmrut Gadhadā II-7 read in the afternoon. He then said, “What are the characteristics of a sadhu? To tolerate. Is it like tolerating the words: ‘You are very great.’? No! ‘You are a dim-witted fool.’ Tolerating those words is a true characteristic of a sadhu. One wants to break their hunger but does not want to eat. Similarly, one wants to eradicate their vicious nature yet is lacking vairāgya. Mahārāj shows a third way - serving a Motā-Purush. Who should we understand to be greater that Muktānand Swāmi, who was the greatest is the whole Satsang? He obeys the commands of a Gunātit Satpurush, but has doubts and applies logic in executing the commands; therefore, it cannot be called true service. There are four types of shishyas: 1) One who serves according to the wishes of the Satpurush, 2) the second who only does what he is shown, 3) the third who doubts what the Satpurush says, and 4) the fourth who just runs away. The first earns 100%, the second earns 66%, the third earns 33% and the fourth is all right. What is intense service? To understand that the Motā-Purush is free of all flaws. Just as the body has achieved oneness with the ātmā, one should not keep any distance from the Satpurush; then one will acquire the qualities of the Satpurush.”

તા. ૧/૪/૧૯૭૦, મ્વાન્ઝા, ટાન્ઝાનિયા. બપોરે રામુભાઈને બંગલે યોગીજી મહારાજ વચનામૃત ગઢડા મધ્ય ૭ વંચાવતાં કહે, “સાધુતાના ગુણ શું? ખમવું. તમે બહુ સારા છો તે ખમવું એમ ને? ના. ‘તમે અક્કલના બારદાન છો.’ એમ કહે તે ખમવું તે સાધુતાના ગુણ. ખાવું નથી ને ભૂખ ભાંગવી છે. વૈરાગ્ય નથી ને વિકાર ટાળવા છે. મહારાજ ત્રીજો રસ્તો બતાવે છે. કોઈક મોટાપુરુષ... મુક્તાનંદ સ્વામી આખા સત્સંગમાં મોટા એથી મોટા કોણ સમજવા? ગુણાતીત સત્પુરુષની આજ્ઞા પાળે, તેમાં તર્ક-વિતર્ક કરે તે સેવા થઈ ન કહેવાય... શિષ્ય ચાર પ્રકારના હોય – એક સત્પુરુષની મરજી જાણીને સેવા કરે, બીજો બતાવે તેટલું કરે, ત્રીજો કહે તેમાં શંકા કરે, ચોથો નાસી જાય. પહેલા નંબરના ચોવીસ આના, બીજાના સોળ, ત્રીજાના આઠ ને ચોથો ઠીક છે... અતિશય સેવા શું? મોટાપુરુષને નિર્દોષ જાણવા તે... દેહને અને જીવને અંતરાય નથી. તેમ સત્પુરુષ સાથે અંતરાય ન રહે તો ગુણ આવે.”
