Gadhada I-67: Acquiring the Virtues of the Satpurush

July 1969, Gondal. During the discourse, Yogiji Mahārāj said, “The Satpurush always wishes for our betterment. He breaks the attachment we have towards this world as the affairs of this world are binding. As the jiva becomes entangled in worldly objects, it forgets the true purpose of why it has come on this earth. The Sant awakens them from this slumber.

“There were two satsangi brothers in a village. One was staunch and the other had a mundane understanding. When the younger brother [an ordinary satsangi] passed away, he became a ghost. The older brother [a staunch satsangi] would sit in the mandir daily and spend his time engrossed in Satsang. When the older brother was about to pass away, Mahārāj came in a vimān (a celestial vehicle) to take him to Akshardhām. The younger brother [as a ghost] came and stood there. The older brother was attached to his younger brother and looked at him from the vimān. Mahārāj discerned that the older brother still has affection for his younger brother and removed him from the vimān. They both became ghosts.

“Their family members were able to see them. They said, ‘You said you would go to Mahārāj’s abode, so why are you now a ghost?’ He said, ‘I was attached to my younger brother so Mahārāj removed me from the vimān and I became a ghost. Do not worry, I will not harass anyone; however, when you next serve a sādhu food, please place two lādus in this plate so we can partake of the prasād.’

“One day, Bālmukund Swāmi of Junāgadh came to visit their house. He saw them and said, ‘Why are you two here? Go to Badrikāshram.’ He sprinkled sanctified water on them and he sent them both to Badrikāshram.

“In this way, even if a little attachment remains, Mahārāj will not take one to his abode. So make sure no attachments remain.”

જુલાઈ, ૧૯૬૯, ગોંડલ. કથાપ્રસંગમાં યોગીજી મહારાજ કહે, “સત્પુરુષ આપણું આ હિત ઇચ્છે. આ લોકની વાસના તૂટી જાય તેવું કરે, કારણ કે આ લોકના પદાર્થ બંધનકર્તા છે. જીવ આ લોકના પદાર્થમાં ચોંટી જાય, પછી તેને ‘શું કરવા આવ્યો છું?’ તેની વિસ્મૃતિ થઈ જાય. સંત તેને તેમાંથી જગાડે.

“એક ગામમાં બે ભાઈ સત્સંગી હતા. તેમાં એક સામાન્ય સત્સંગી હતો અને બીજો શિરોમણિ હતો. તેમાંથી જે સામાન્ય સત્સંગી હતો તે નાનો ભાઈ દેહ મૂકી ગયો ને ભૂત થયો. મોટા ભાઈ તો નત (નિત્ય) મંદિરમાં બેસે, સત્સંગમાં જીવન ગુજારે. એમ કરતાં મોટા ભાઈને દેહ છોડવાનો વખત આવ્યો. તે મહારાજ વિમાન લઈ તેડવા આવ્યા. ત્યાં નાનો ભાઈ જે ભૂત થયો હતો તે આગળ આવીને ઊભો. મોટા ભાઈને તેનામાં હેત હતું. તેથી વિમાનમાંથી તેની સામું જોયું. મહારાજે જોયું કે ‘આને હજુ ભાઈમાં વાસના છે;’ તેથી વિમાનમાંથી કાઢી નાખ્યો. તે બેય ભૂત થયા.

“પછી ઘરના માણસોને દેખા દે. ત્યારે બધાએ કહ્યું, ‘તું તો મહારાજના ધામમાં જવાનું કહેતો હતો ને કેમ ભૂત થયો?’ ત્યારે આણે કહ્યું, ‘મને ભાઈમાં વાસના હતી તેથી મહારાજે મને વિમાનમાંથી કાઢ્યો ને ભૂત થયો; પણ અમે કોઈને કનડશું નહીં. સાધુને જ્યારે રસોઈ આપો ત્યારે બે લાડવા આ ગોખલામાં મૂકજો. અમે તે પ્રસાદી ખાશું.’

“એમ કરતાં એક દી’ જૂનાગઢના સદ્‌ગુરુ બાળમુકુંદ સ્વામી તેને ઘેર આવ્યા. તો તે ભાઈઓને કહ્યું, ‘તમે અહીં ક્યાંથી? જાવ, બદરિકાશ્રમમાં!’ એમ કહી અંજલિ છાંટી, બદરિકાશ્રમમાં મોકલી દીધા.

“તેમ જો ક્યાંય પણ થોડી વાસના રહી જશે, તો મહારાજ કાઢી નાખશે. માટે વાસના રહેવા ન દેવી.”
