કાળનેમિ
શાસ્ત્રોમાં આવતાં પાત્રો
કાળનેમિ લંકાનગરીનો એક રાક્ષસ હતો. જ્યારે યુદ્ધમાં લક્ષ્મણ મૂર્છિત થયા તે વખતે દ્રોણાચળ પર્વત ઉપરથી ઔષધિ લાવવા માટે હનુમાન જતા હતા. તેમને રોકવા માટે રાવણે તેને મોકલ્યો હતો. એ ઋષિનો વેશ ધારણ કરીને રસ્તામાં બેઠો હતો. હનુમાન ત્યાં પાણી પીવા માટે ઊભા રહ્યા. પણ કાળનેમિનું કપટ કળી ગયા. હનુમાને તેને મારી નાખ્યો.
આ નામનો અન્ય પણ એક દૈત્ય હતો જે સો મુખવાળો હતો અને વિષ્ણુ ભગવાને તેને માર્યો હતો, જેનો ઉલ્લેખ મત્સ્ય પુરાણમાં આવે છે.

Kālnemi was one demon of Lankā. When Lakshman became unconscious during the battle between Rām Bhagwān and Rāvan, Hanumān was sent to Dronāchal mountain to obtain the herbal medicine for Lakshman. Rāvan sent Kālnemi to stop Hanumān. He assumed the guise of a rishi and waited for him on the way. When Hanumān stopped to drink water where he sat, he figured out his deceit and killed him.
There is another demon named Kālnemi who had 100 heads. Vishnu killed him according to the Matsya Purān.
