Translation

(1) Evā kare re (pad - 6)

Sadguru Premanand Swami

Evā kare re, charitra pāvankārī;

Shukjī sarkhā re, gāve nit sambhārī. 1

He would do deeds like these, about which even sages like Shukdev sing and reminisce daily. 1

Kyārek jībhne re, dānt taḷe dabāve;

Ḍābe jamṇe re, paḍkhe sahaj swabhāve. 2

Sometimes He would press His tongue against the top part of His teeth, and sometimes, He would move it naturally to the left, right, and back part of the mouth. 2

Chhīnk jyāre āve re, tyāre rumāl laīne;

Chhīnk khāye re, mukh par āḍo daīne. 3

When He felt like sneezing, He would put a hankerchief across His mouth and sneeze. 3

Ramūj āṇī re, hase ati Ghanshyām;

Mukh par āḍo re, rumāl daī sukhdhām. 4

When in a humourous mood, Mahārāj would laugh a great deal while putting a hankerchief across His mouth. 4

Kyārek vātu re, kartā thakā Dev;

Chheḍe rumālne re, vaḷ dīdhānī ṭev. 5

He had a habit of rolling the edge of the hankerchief while talking. 5

Ati dayāḷu re, swabhāv chhe Swāmīno;

Pardukhhārī re, vārī bahunāmīno. 6

Mahārāj’s extremely compassionate nature is good because it destroys people’s miseries. 6

Koīne dukhiyo re, dekhī na khamāye;

Dayā āṇī re, ati ākḷā thāye. 7

He could not bear seeing anyone being miserable. (Seeing this sight) He would become upset and show compassion. 7

Anna dhan vastra re, āpīne dukh ṭāḷe;

Karuṇā draṣhṭi re, dekhī vānaj vāḷe. 8

Giving food, money, and clothing, He would cure (people’s) misery and with His compassionate glance, would change (people’s) moods. 8

Ḍābe khabhe re, khes āḍsoḍe nākhī;

Chāle jamṇā re, karmā rumāl rākhī. 9

He often wore a sash thrown over one shoulder. Sometimes He would walk with a hankerchief in His right hand. 9

Kyārek ḍābo re, kar keḍ upar melī;

Chāle vahālo re, Premānandno helī. 10

Sometimes, Premānand’s friend would walk with His left hand on His waist. 10
