Gujarati English Hari Bookmark

Welcome & Help

Welcome to the Online Kirtan Muktavali. This site currently contains 1143 kirtans from Part 1 and 362 kirtans from Part 2. This site offers the kirtan text in Unicode Gujarati, English transliteration, and Harikrishna Gujarati. The site is mobile-friendly so you have access to the Kirtan Muktavali on-the-go! If you need to view this intro text again, click on intro image in the upper left corner.

Finding and Selecting Kirtans

The selection menu is both intuitive and comprehensive. You can find kirtans based on their alphabetical listing, by category, by writer, or the publication media.

Moreover, you'll be able to search the kirtan text (title and body including). Search queries must be in Unicode Gujarati or English.

Get started with finding your kirtan using the selection menu on the left for desktop version or bottom for mobile version.

Alternatively, you can enter the part and kirtan number in the "Go To" box , then click "Go" to quickly view your kirtan. Enter the part and number as "X YYY" or "X-YYY". For example, "1 34" or "1-545".

Language and Font

This site has 3 options for selecting and displaying kirtan selection text (on left) and kirtan text: Unicode Gujarati, English transliteration, and Harikrishna Gujarati.

  1. Uni GU image Unicode Gujarati - the text of all kirtans was typed in Unicode Gujarati, which is viewable in most popular operating systems, including Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux distributions. If you cannot view the Unicode Gujarati text, see All about Gujarati Typing for information on how to install Gujarati language support.
  2. EN image English transliteration - the English text was generated using my Unicode Gujarati to English transliteration tool. The tool is not flawless and I have not paid attention to the accuracy of the conversion since my main focus has been to provide the text in Gujarati.
  3. Hari image Harikrishna Gujarati - this text is in non-Unicode format using the popular Harikrishna font. Although I'm not in favor of non-Unicode text as Unicode is superior, I've include this text using my Unicode to non-Unicode conversion tool. This option is best suited for mobile devices that do not support Unicode Gujarati yet.

Browser Compatibility

Logos

This site is best viewed with Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 or higher, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Apple Safari, and Opera. The site works with IE 7 and 8 but will lack design elements that are seen with IE 9.

The site is also compatible with mobile browsers such as Safari on the iPhone, stock browser on Android, mobile Firefox, mobile Google Chrome and Dolphin Browser.

Google Android finally supports Gujarati Unicode starting with version 4.0 (Icecream Sandwich). However, the Gujarati font is not included. This site uses an embedded font to display Unicode Gujarati.
